Michelle first started playing the piano at the age of 5, but was singing disney songs, church hymns, and musical hits long before then (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, anyone?!). Benefitting from an artistic family, her musical adventure has taken many turns . . . from acting in musical theatre, to playing flute and percussion in bands and symphonies, to singing for weddings . . . The only constant growing up was her love for songwriting. With heart-driving lyrics, her piano-infused sound has been described as a cross between quirky artists like Ingrid Michaelson & Regina Spektor, and true classics, such as Joni Mitchell.
Deva Yoder has been playing shows for nearly 20 years. In her early years she played around Denver at coffee shops and busked on 16th Street Mall, played underground haunts and eventually worked her way up to opening for national acts. After a hiatus, she joined a local cover band, and rotated between singing, playing guitar and playing drums. Deva grew up listening to her Dad play music with members of Neil Young's band, Crazy Horse, in her basement, and he also played bass for a touring band that opened for Jefferson Airplane. She is the sister of DMC World Champion DJ, Chris Karns, and her brother Casey owns the popular Denver restaurant, The Meadowlark Kitchen. Her husband and drummer was once the drummer for the early 2000's popular indie rock band, Lovedrug. Her influences include Americana singer-songwriters such as Patty Griffin, Over The Rhine, Mindy Smith, Laura Viers, Sam Phillips, Suzanne Vega, and Ryan Adams. Stormchasers is her breakout solo debut album; written, performed, produced and self-released by Deva
